Time to save my old 5 10's from too early a death.

Any good shop, especially in Northern CA?

Hi,

I like "The Rubber Room" in Bishop. You can deal with them by phone, mail or email.

I like Ramuta in Seattle they do the best job I have seen, it may cost a little more but it has been more than worth it everytime I have used them.

Personal favorite is Rock and Resole - http://www.rockandresole.com/

They've done 10+ resoles for me, all perfect. I used to use the rubber room, but they excessively ground the toes on the last 2 pairs of shoes resoled, and another pair started delam'ing - end of relationship.

(edit) - oh yeah, fast turnaround too. Door-to-door has always been less than 2 weeks.

Although not in N.Cali. definitely Rock & Resole. Been using them for years they have great turnaround service and will really make an extra effort.

Years ago I came back from Hueco with both heels of my La Sportiva X's blown out, they sewed them up and they were good for another 9 months.

I really like Flyin' Bryan in Vegas.
Just ship them to him and gets it done quickly and does a great job.
My climbing partner and I just got our trad shoes resoled for the season and they look awesome!
He's on the net.

Avoid Marmot. I have had 2-3 pairs done there, shoddy work to say the least. Rubber room has a good rep but their turnaround time is slow, and mine delaminated also after a few months.

Rock and Resole has a 1-2 day turnaround, and I've heard they do good work. I just sent them 4 pairs last thursday or friday, when I called to see if they had recieved them this wednesday they said, yeah, they're all done and on their way back to you! Their prices are pretty good, too.

see Tony At the Rubber Room, only place to have resoles done, Tony can and will set you up right and everything I've ever had done was BETTER than what the manufactor did. Been dealing with them since Wheeler Wilsons and Mike Pope.

Avoid Marmott.

Poor quality work. A friend (beginner) had her shoes done there. Showed them to me - seams between rand rubber were all messed up. She took them back - they claimed "it's how it's supposed to look". The shops in Bishop make it look a lot better.

I've had bad luck w/ Marmot, and have heard bad reports from others as well.

Barry is THE man, IMO. Beyond his awesome structural work (and I always have a custom PITA request or three), he even sticks an individually wrapped life-saver in each shoe so the box doesn't stink when you open it.

Contrary to other posters here, I've have fine results with Marmot in Berkely. Honestly, I don't really like the store overall but my 4 resoles I've had done there have been fine (except the mythos I left in a hot car these started to delaminate a tiny bit on the inside edge but I can't really blame the resolers for that one).

Maybe I just have low standards though.

Barry's for sure. Wilson's(Rubber Room)used to be good, but then went to sh#t, Tony is great but the subbies not so hot. Might be better now. Haven't used them in probably 5 years. Call Barry.

I've gotta cast my vote for Barry along with Dingus, Melissa, et al... Barry is definitely a great guy and does incredible work.

I'd go with Rubber Room as a second choice.

Flyin' Brian's has always done a good job for me. I've had mixed results with the Rubber Room. They misplaced one pair for eight weeks, and another pair delaminated pretty quickly. OTOH, they've done a really good job at other times.

Barry & The Rubber Room are both top choices. NEVER the 'Butchers of Berkeley'!
