Re: Student dies after climbing accident
It is with much sadness that I write to inform you that we have learned
that one of our students died this past Thursday from injuries sustained
during a climbing accident. Nicholas Ermak, 22, had been injured earlier in
the week at Mount Diablo State Park.
Affiliated with Porter College, Nicholas was a senior majoring in history.
He came to UCSC from the city of Danville and planned to graduate next
winter.
The family has planned a memorial service and reception for Nicholas this
Wednesday, June 14, at the Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley in
Danville. An informal gathering begins at 3 p.m., with a service scheduled
for 4 p.m. A reception will follow.
The chapel is located at 825 Hartz Way in Danville.
Please join me in extending heartfelt condolences to Nicholas's family and
to his many friends, both on and off campus.

Very Sad Article. Just as sad was the father that dropped his child. How does one go on after that. May he find peace.

not on the particular incident, but
there is a guardrail on top of a pinnacle, dozens step over it daily, there's a big drop, nowhere near 800' (harding slot height?)but far enough.
