Just a curious observation, after doing Munginella this past weekend, on the descent from the five open books there is a a pair of bolts with beefy chains and rap rings about 30 ft from the end of the slab (where you rejoin the trail in the forest and traverse back along the base of the wall to the start of the climb). The rap would be at most 25-35 ft long...

I know sometimes, seemingly random rap bolts are the result of some yosar rescue or another, and was wondering if anyone has a story behind these seemingly useless, but well maintained bolts?

Check them out again, sometime earlier in the year when there's water running through there. They might not seem so useless then.

Does it really get that bad? I was there in february and the last 20 ft was a little wet, but not terrible - not a very high sketch factor as far as valley descents are concerned.

I've rapped off those bolts through a waterfall

Just leave them there and don't ask anymore questions.

They're there obviously for a purpose in a high traffic area.

If you can't figure that out by now you're not too bright ......

I'm not planning on chopping them or anything stupidly presumptuous on my part, I was just curious.

Crasic's experience is probably colored by a drier than usual winter this year.

There's a party thrashing around up there on the decent right this minute getting down.

It's dark and they might be using those bolts.

So it's not just because of the water when it's wet.

Every weekend I see people thrashing around after dark up there ......
