You were in mysituation. S o, I live on VA disability and can pretty much go anywhere I want. Road trip is out, my cats aren't into it. California is awesome but I'm getting tired of the SF bay. Already did the Calaveras/Tuolumne county thing. I'm thinking Reno or Tahoe, Bridgeport, Utah, Montana or Wyoming.

New Zealand. The more I learn about that place, the more I wish I lived there.

Depends on you, what you like and what's your budget.
What kind of climate do you like?
Reno/Tahoe is nice. Not too far from Yosemite.
No state income taxes in Nevada.

Do something different.

Go to Louisiana and take up alligator wrestling.

Why do you want to develop a tunnel vision mindset like all these supertopo people here?

Awesome! Good questions. Re: budget. C'Mon, its the VA. In San Mateo County, I'm way under thepoverty line.
Werner, I also thought about SC coast for a while.

What I want to spend my time doing is being outside, living around like minded people and I f*#king hate humidity. Not really wanting to move out of the country. I've been in Ca my whole life, exempting my military service, and want to.expand my horizons. Why stay here? It's expensive, crowded, polluted and most people are annoying.

Ya, Ft Carson area is nice too. Never was at.lostinthewoods. bct ft jackson, ait ft Sam then statin at bliss, which el Paso is NOT. Couple short times in Georgia, once in co..

If that isn't feasible, Vancouver or area. B.C., anyway.

Yeah, I've heard there are a few people here who hardly ever leave the Valley, or climb anywhere else.

Reno is actually high on the list. Or at least that area. I fantasize sometimes about buying all the houses in Hawthorn that are for sale. Id be the tzarina of west NV.

Oh, and Humboldt or other rainfests are a major no go. I survived Arcata, I'm cool now.
