And broke a few other records as well. That's impressive.

I used to shoot at Pachmyer's in El Monte back when.

She was about 9-10 years old and a talented shooter then.

She'd be at the skeet field shooting with her dad and the grownups.

She'd play with her dolls or other toys till it was her turn and then pick her custom built gun (donated by Perazzi) up off the rack when her dad called her, proceed to smoke four targets, put the gun back in the rack and go back to her toys leaving the serous skeet shooters standing slack jawed.

Really nice family.

She's not a pro shooter, I believe she's a veterinary student now.

that that kid has now been in five Olympics really makes me feel old.

90 mph targets

up to 3 second random delay for target release.

Gun butt must stay below the level of the illiac crest until target release.

Doubles at all stations

Yeah, 99 out of 100 is pretty good.

Not an athlete. Unless you count bowling and golfing as "sports" , I guess. Not saying there is no skill involved, but using the golf analogy, if you could look at the leader board and see John Dailey's name it isn't a sport.

That is why they are called the Olympic Games, and Curling is one of them.

Someone with wealthy parents who can indulge their childs pasttime. Did you see her touting her exotic car collection? I rest my case.

BEST

AWESOME!!

When you learn to control your body at even a smidgeon of the precision this person has done then you tell me she is not an athlete

X-country skiing and shooting, that is sport!

Wow! That's some witty repartee.

Not a sport, no pain threshold, no danger, just lots of cash and free time.

I never said shooting skeet isn't fun, just clarifying the difference between a game and real sport.

edit: in 1982? I placed ninth in what was effectively the national championship for mountain bikes. Top that loudmouth.

ditto on the skiing-shooting combos, that is real sport.

I saw her shoot at Pachmyer's 7-8 years ago, impressive.
Even the guys in our group who competed on the traps circuit nationally stopped to watch her shoot.

no danger

Aren't guns intrinsically dangerous?

Whaddya mean curling isn't a sport? Clearly, sir, you have never curled.

You know how hard it is to lift those beers afterwards when your back is sore and your arms are aching from all that sweeping?

So you were the best at something in which there was no framework for competition? What a stud!

Got it, only third best. Thanks for clarifying!

nah not best..That was Boivin.. after that a little known skier named Habler,, f*#k who knew that baddass climber could ski?

and Of course there is no competitive venue for something that kills at about a 50% rate. Not since Roman times from what I've heard.

Cool i got an Idea.. the first Worldcup of extreme skiing. Only First descents above 20k feet allowed.

Not that piddle ass Valdez stunt crap.. but hey money for skiing is kinda a fun check to cash.

Congratulations to Kim Rhode. Quite the accomplishment to medal in five Olympics.
Shack ( the OP)....Kim Rhode didn't win gold in five consecutive Olympics as your title indicates. She has bagged three golds, one silver, and a bronze medal.
Atlanta (1996)......gold
Sydney (2000).....bronze
Athens (2004).....gold
Beijing (2008).....silver
London (2012).....gold
Also, Kim Rhode competed in Skeet shooting, not X-country skiing (eg biathlon). As she indicated she only missed one "bird," 99 out of 100. Awesome, especially in light of her loosing the extensively customized shotgun she'd used in the previous four Olympics.

Does anybody realize that her custom gun was stolen and she had to make do at the last minute?

Incredible!

It's impressive sure, but there's a reason no one has heard of her. mind and body control are all you need... huh? Maybe we can get holding it in added for the next games.
