Terrible. I dread these posts.

And now I dread the news of who they are. In our small world it is likely we or someone we know are friends and care deeply for them.

RIP our fallen brothers or sisters.

So sad. {sigh}

It says the area is mostly single pitch sport climbing. Yet how did they both fall? Together? Simul-climbing? Simul-soloing but still roped together?

It also suggests they bounced a ways on the way down, so it sounds like lower-angle terrain.

Rest in peace.

Today is a sad day in climbing. My thoughts and prayers goes out to family and friends.

There has been two climbing accidents in two weeks in the Bow Valley, and this one is really hitting close to home.

well, is it part of the sport?

unfortunately, yes,

freeways are now safer than climbing, but a lot more boring and un rewarding, so we climb on,

Damn. So terribly sad. I've climbed in there a number of times, huge fun. I can picture the scene on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Joy, warmth, good times turns to tragedy in an instant. We are too quickly, too easily removed from this world, yet we climb.

Our sport is like driving in that it doesnt feel dangerous until out of nowhere all goes to sh#t.

Ive had some very close calls even though I am very safe and carefull.

Although it is easy to say that there must have been negligence or incompetence, we all know that bad things can happen to the most proficient of climbers.

My deepest condolences to the families of those that have moved on.

Individuals have been identified but names not released yet. Apparently, guy and girl, friends and co-workeers from Calgary. They were rapping on Ampitheatre - 6 pitches at(10d) apparently - on a single rope. Very sad.
Investigation should provide more details.

Really tragic. I saw the ambulances on my way to another crag and knew it was bad news. 31 year old Ranjit Sidhu is the only identified climber. The identity of the girl is known but not yet released.

Simul-rap would be my guess as well.

Sounds as if they were simul-rappelling and the anchor pulled, but could be something else. Condolences to family and friends.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends.
They were too young.

I've only simul rapped maybe once, I may not do it again.

So Sad.
RIP.

Simul-rappelling is fine as long as there is 100% communication with both parties.
