sweet horizons have yanked me right thru
my immediate toil and i finished friday's work
on wednesday.
bonfire below,
six pack within,
and im 50 feet up a douglas fir tree
choppin out the fireladder branches.
my right foot is perched trunk tight on a 1/4" dead branch,
left foot wrapped around the 12" trunk
left hand holding another shite branch
and right hand swinging my hatchet.
chopping and chopping.
and right then and there i began to
muse upon
anatomical awareness.
and how i have such honed my understanding of
my body complete, appendages and trunk.
...now homophobes and otherwise insecure people
get your fuuting securely 'neath you...
so im looking at a maiming fall to the fire below
and i equally apply my faith upon the four
shitty purchases that im committed to.
four? you say. bad left foot hold.
unreliable left hand hold.
grippin the trunk with my right heel.
funkin junk doin what i can to hold altitude.
yea. that's right. im humping higher.
so i chop away taking care not to transfer a dynamic load
to any of the dead branches that sheild me from
the plunge and slowly lower my self down from branch
to branch...the lower i go the skinnier they become...
my tree work. my burn pile. my six pack of beer.
all of these hopes into which i invest
pay handsome dividends upon my rock pursuits.
cause when i latch a poor hold
while smearing a dull edge
and aspire hire, i spread my butter
thinly on each crispy piece of toast
and in the ind i have charcoal in my teeth.
aind i aint pretty.

yea the trees, they be.
and my story is writ.
it's gonna take my lifetime
to untold it.
for now, my lies
be erased here.
on these pages.

you hit the return key
a lot what ever you are
writing magically becomes
more insightful and
poetic . I should type
