Ok.. just looked at PokerRoom.com
To set up an online tourney, anyone who plays will need to have a REAL MONEY PokerRoom account. I can't imagine you guys following through with this....
To play a ring game, limit, no limit, whatever for PLAY MONEY can happen easy. Go to PokerRoom.com and just sign up and they will give you some free play money.
To keep your interest, we can all play with play money, and then square up for real money after the fact. Example: we all start with $1000. Play our asses off for say 2 hours. The total number of chips in play at the start was say 6000. After rake, at the end time there is only 5000 chips in play. We adjust the agreed upon real money buy in amount to reflect the number of chips in play now. Winners get paid by losers via PayPal.
Any FREE private tourneys out there that will support Macs? No Mac-ie, no laundry for me.
better ideas? let me know about it ya panty liners! (that was for you Dirt...)

Uhg... I'd be in except I forgot that Pokerroom pissed me off to the point that I requested my account be blocked from logging in for six months. I can play in three months.
nature420 is in if by chance I can get it unblocked.

Well for a tournament structure, you need to decide on the round times, the blinds initial size and how they increase, and the starting chips 1000 chips is not very many. 1500 or 3k is good. Also, will there be antes? rebuys?
Prize fund payout would be calculated when you know how many are in.
The idea of playing for just two hours is kind of odd, expecially if a lot of people join.
We need enough people to make it worth playing. first place should pay at least 20 times entry, but better is 50 or 100 times entry. That's a lot of players.
6 bucks each and 30 players would be a reasonable tournament, with the top 4 splitting the cash in the usual way. that's 180 total prize, say 90 for first, 45, 25 and 20 for second third and fourth.

hey Dirt ya panty liner....
Let me beat you over the head with this: WE AIN'T GO NO TOURNEY UNLESS YOU GUYS GET A REAL MONEY ACCOUNT AT POKERROOM.
All this tourney blabbing is putting ME on tilt. It isn't a problem of the payouts, or the structure, or the time..... WE HAVE NO VENUE
Nature is banned for life, so those interested need to find a venue that supports FREE TOURNEYS.
Added: 30 players!!! we'll be lucky if it isn't a heads up match between me and Dirt.

I'm in... I need to get an account set up and then find some free when the little guy isn't going bonkers around 9pm-ish.
Yeah, no tourny. Here's why: I can't sit in a game for 2 hours straight (4 month old) - but I can buy in for a couple duckets and (free money) then settle up if I'm down at the end of the night. I need to be able to cash out at any given point to be "dad" again.
Also, as Mussy noted - NO RAKE.

Fearless is my first response...but online for play money is kind of like gym climbing....not the genuine article. A real live tourney would be much better...Mountain Room Bar on a rainy day...."I'm all in"

Real live tourney would be good.
I need a reason to visit out west anyway, since I can't climb for a while.
Make it real.
Get coverage.
This could be really funny.
Set this thing for the height of the season in Yosemite, get a venue, play it up, maybe you'll get enough players to make it a huge prize. Get some sponsors, and invite a few big time players. Bring in one of the casinos that mamages these events all the time.
Donate some portion of the entry to YOSAR or something.

I understand what you are trying to do. The play money isn't really for play. Are you really heading over for Spring Training? If so, are you going to a game tomorrow?

I might be in, depending on the real money buy-in. Russ, you play for bigger money than I'm comfortable with.

I'd love to play but that 1k buy in is stiff( I'd rather take a week off work and go climbing than fund Fish's retirement fund). You can't have a Poker game of this scale in Ca, it's illegal, If it's unadvertised and kept low key( no open cash on the table for rangers to see, etc) you can get away with it but even this forum is open to scrutiny from some gov types. If it's kept thru the internet or casual " fun " at someones house, then you can get away with it. Otherwise your gonna need an Indian casino to run it. Keep it low key. Dirt in the Eye can fly into that little airport South of Bishop for the "East side open" and will have the Limo( 87 Subarro) pick him up. This could work but a serious game in the Valley would draw to much attention.

Poker's kind of hit the big time though, maybe if you worked it right, it could happen.
Cooupling the tourn with some sort of benefit would be my plan.
