Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson, explained in a statement, "Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News. Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all."
This isn't the first study that has found that Fox News viewers more misinformed in comparison to others. Last year, a study from the University of Maryland found that Fox News viewers were more likely to believe false information about politics.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/17/fox-news-viewers-are-the-_n_798146.html
The study, conducted by the University of Maryland, judged how likely consumers of various news outlets and publications were to believe misinformation about a wide range of political issues. Overall, 90% of respondents said they felt they had heard false information being given to them during the 2010 election campaign. However, while consumers of just about every news outlet believed some information that was false, the study found that Fox News viewers, regardless of political information, were "significantly more likely" to believe that:
--Most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)
--Most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)
--The economy is getting worse (26 points)
--Most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)
--The stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)
--Their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)
--The auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points)
--When TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)
--And that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)
In addition, the study said, increased viewership of Fox News led to increased belief in these false stories.
This goes a long ways to explaining why we on the left of the political spectrum believe you on the right are Faux News devotees.

I don't know which is more mindless; getting your information from Fox News, or getting your information from the Huffington Post.

The funny thing IMO is that FuXnoise got to where they are by purposefully buying up the lucrative NFL television market.
Once the Bubba Chumps of the Nascar crowd settled their fat asses into their LazyAss recliners with a six pack of Bud Blights they were hooked. No need to twitch a thumb on the remote when the purty news casters ASSure you they are so "Fair and Balanced".

DrF, isn't it big fun to foist the wrong wing TeaBaglickers on their own petards by exposing their reading comprehension difficulties.
Oh by the way, so that the Taco wont be offended, by "wrong wing TeaBagLickers" I meant Fox News viewers. Since no one here would admit being addicted to Rush, Rove, Beck and the Gang no one need be irritated by my in-sensitivities.

I don't get it, how can this be?
the study found that Fox News viewers, regardless of political information, were "significantly more likely" to believe that:

^^^ Skippy Thanks for finally posting up a picture of your self. You are Fabulous! ^^^
Exactly HOW am I a Poser SkippityDooDoo? Unlike your anonymous bad self I actually climb and I even think for myself.
The funny thing is, if you actually read, that FoX viewers are less informed than those who watch NO news at all. Sadly that sentence was too long for the OP title.

The University of Maryland is not a real university or something?
What criteria is being used to diminish the University as the study source?
Maybe Harvard would be more credible?
Or Yale, Stanford?
