What's camp 4 like at the moment? I've never been this time of year, but may have time for a few days in the valley. If I do get out, I'd be arriving Saturday or Sunday and I need to be back at the Oakland airport Sunday morning Oct. 31.
Is it possible to get a site if I arrive mid morning or so? Are there many people around looking for partners? I'm up for anything. I'd love to get on a wall.
Thanks in advance.

I can't comment on camp 4, but the weather is amazing. I think Tom Evens of the el cap report is staying in camp 4, he might be able to give you a heads up. Maybe ask on his thread.

Weather and conditions are perfect.
Camp 4? Don't know. Looks packed when I drive by. But it doesn't matter; the climbing is great.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really hoping this works out. I wish I could get in Saturday, but I think I'll be flying in a bit late. I can't get to Merced until 7:30 or so and YARTS has stopped by then.

Sounds as if you'll be arriving on Sunday AM. People will be clearing out by then. There'll be plenty of space by Sunday evening. The Ranger (Pinky) may have a spot available when you get there. If not cruise C4 with your stuff till you find someone packing up. Put your stuff in their bear box. Go do your thing and come back later to get a site. You'll need cash in advance for the nights you want to stay. Six people are assigned to a site by the Ranger.
According to current NOAA forecast, will be chilly at night, around 40; chilly mornings until sun hits the crags, fine climbing weather midday and early afternoons, highs in the 60s. Bears will be busy trying to fatten up for winter. Perfect climbing weather. Wish I could go next week!

HEY, ANYONE CLIMBING IN THE VALLEY THIS WEEKEND???
Looking for a partner Sat and Sun.
Can climb 5.11 anything. Looking to do .10's & .11's, maybe some easy .12's like the Cringe or Hotline. Not opposed to easier climbs provided they are somewhat obscure.
Offwidths are a +.
Any takers???
