Going canyoneering. My Jumars (yes, the old yellow ones) seem to lock down fine on my 8mm static. Thoughts/experiences?

Do you have your Jumars tied the safe way? Somewhere on SuperTopo there's a thread about how top do it.

I'm not so sure. The jumars thread has the details. I guess I'll go have a look for it.

A lot of discussion by people who know their stuff. Plus I put in my 2cents worth near the end.
I'd double tape the yellows as well. In case of a crashing/sliding or penduluming fall. It's not that hard to do.
And of course, no matter what, tie off short every 20 feet or so.

You guys are great! I so am grateful to have this forum.
I'll follow the link to the previous thread--I'm so dithery I probably posted on it. I run a loop from both the top hole and the bottom hole and clip into both, not the jumar.
THANKS!

Check for rust at the two hinge points, trigger and cam. Discard if there's rust or other corrosion.
As long as your Jumars still have teeth and the triggers and cams operate smoothly, you're good to go.
Oh, and the webbing is still intact of course.
