Today, we perfected our technique of blasting a washing machine frame (sheet metal w/o inner drum) 15 feet into the air! There were lots of fellow rednecks around … half a mile off to the side, across the highway a mile or so, etc. It’s Saturday, ya know… We could hear ‘pops’ from all over… the smaller calibers and the boomers. Boomers???…… I would love to have seen the look on their faces when they first heard the sounds coming from the general direction of the black spot in the distance… And the echos……

Pud, is your movie set just NE of highway 95, between Beatty and the Amargosa Valley junction??? Looks like the same cinder cone...

Ran 11.6 miles on horse trails last night as the sun set and the crescent moon lit the way. Mystical. What a beautiful world.

Model rockets. A LOT of running. Road cycling. I like to see what I can make myself do. Have yet to do a 100 mile run, but have done plenty of 50's and 100K's. The rockets are really fun. I wonder if they'll tack me up to a barn door if I launch one from the summit of Devils Tower?

Nice Medric- I'm in the same boat. Haven't run 100m, but certainly 100k, although 50k is my favorite because I can really push the pace for that distance. My favorite 100k is to leave the valley floor, run up 4-mile trail (a misnomer) to glacier pt, go up Illilouette creek, hit mono meadow, then up over Red Peak Pass, down the Merced canyon, out to Glacier pt again, then down to the valley. You should do it if you ever go to Yosemite! I guarantee you'll run into a deaf woman (Pattie, I think) doing the same run in reverse. In three years of doing that one in september, I've run into her every time.

Well, I'm tentatively planning to spend June in Yosemite. Prolly all of September and October too. So that means new trails to run. Is there enough lightly "car"ed roads to warrant bringing a road bike?
