Where can I get some of this goodness? Also, are there MRE's out there that have some sorta chemical heating unit that heats up this swill upon contact with water? I'm looking for an alternative to canned fare.

I got some this past fall at a local Army/Navy surplus store. The owners son was a supply Sgt. in the Army and "procured" cases of them. Got for 2.00 a piece. They all came with chem heaters. Just a bit of water, slide in the food pack and wait about 5 minutes. Much better taste than MRE's from 10 years back. You can also check out www.cheaperthandirt.com

A note about MRE's...

They are made by a few different companies...

try to get the ones made in Texas.
By all accounts these are superior to the others.

Actually I think you'd be hard pressed to find another super-fast, nutritionally balanced, no water required (eat them cold) 1300 calories meal option. Not all taste great but some are pretty good.
