hey there all, say....
never heard of this before... *though after seeing this kid's adventure pack of simple old fashioned videos (five bucks for 10 small movies in it)... i saw this ONE story, about simon jackson...
it's a small film of the simon jackson, taking simon on a trek with some very well known 'mentors' that actually helped this boy reach his goal of trying to save these KERMODE bears (which are actually black bears, with a rare gene code, in this one area where they are found) (wow, a quest that a small kid persued on his own, through his life)
they were off, INTO THE RAINFOREST (pacific northwest)...
:O
it interveiwed his partents, and their reactions (not bad reactions, but they did speak of his hardships in school, as his quest consumed him)...
it also interveiwed his most important mentors, and those that traveled with him...
very interesting stuff....
and, well, since the subjects of bears was fresh, lately, and i just happened to see this, i just thought i'd share it for you,
though perhaps many of you have HEARD all this already..
*this certain FLIM clip, was a search for an old bear that most likely would die that winter, as it was last seen very old and weak...
well, have fun with the links...
some of you all that LIVE in certain areas, up north, may even know of, some of the folks that took this 'then young man', on this one specific journey...
it also mentions all kinds of folks that he met, as he grew:
and many various conflicts...
goverment stuff, etc...
hard stuff...
and his father was very open to talk on all of it...
could you imagine being a little kid, and doing all this,
and then see it unfold so strongly?

whewwwwwwwwwwww... :O
*haven't seen the end of it, will see it now, :))

hey there, say, wow, john, yeah...
it is very interesting, one of every 10 (or so) black bears in THAT region only (british colombia, somewher) have a white cub...
they later did a study and the black bears of this region have different gene codes too...
very intersting... wow, and the things a small kid can get hooked on...
i DID just see the end of the flim clip, and he did acheive a sanctuary-type-spot for them....
(not sure if it is long-term or not)...
?
but we have all the links to read up for more info...
what an adventure...
some kids just play sports, or do art or dance...
but this litle one, wanted to save a white bear that he had learned of, as a kid....
in this clip, he was very anchored about it, and even keeled, but on fire,
his ma said he USED to stutter some, and was afraid of public speaking...
she said was so shy to speak on the phone that he'd write everything down...
he call pages upon pages of folks, in the phonebook, when he first started his quest... did all his own searches and study...
called all kinds of folks... and many just ignored him, of course...
he never gave up....
:O

hey there say, all.... thanks for chipping in....
:)
jim, yeah, it did such far reaching impact, that i was very surprised...
hard battles for a kid to be in the middle of, too...
awwww, hey there to you, too, tony... :)
say, me and chappy, and all of us, well, our mom grew up in the woods, being that her dad had been able to purchase some wooded area for their home, being that he was in construction...
i got another one of these kids-collection things, same one, to send to her...
she will LOVE seeing the lovely rainforest where this was filmed...
*they did have a serious bear-talk in the beginning, too, for those on that particular expedition:
what to do if bear did show up... do' and don'ts, etc...
they were all very fortunate, and all went well....
*they did see the old white bear too...
apparently, in that area, a younger black of same 'species'gene was the
new 'top bear' so the white one, being old, had backed off into hiding more...
thanks for sharing...
:)
