I remember the dude had some mean sideburns for a while there...

...and I'm pretty sure he rocked out to some Cosmic Hearse BITD. I think he was rockin' at that last party the Hearse played at Ted's apartment in Flag...hard to remember exactly with the girl-fights goin' on in the front row!

Bump!

If you lived in Flag in the 90's and spent any time on the porch at Alpine Pizza...

...you probably crossed paths with the Midge, Ted, the Mutants, the California Boys, and most all of the Flagstaff derelicts at that time.

Post up!

Was at Alpine Pizza around '91 or so when my buddy comes back to the table and says "Jesus is making our pizza!" I lean out and take a look...sure enough, some dude is in the kitchen that looks just like classical portrayal of Jesus... skinny, long hair, beard. Yup...Jesus. We always wanted to name a new route "Jesus Cooked My Pizza" but never got around to it.

Would really enjoy living in Flag if there wasn't that job thing.

Beautiful cragging...

I spent lots of time with Jeff when he was an extended house guest at the south O'Leary place. Tons of laughs. I remember he needed money and signed up for some medical/pharmacuetical study or something where he had to go to some undisclosed location for two weeks- lots of funny jokes about that.

Is Alpine still there? The bike pile outside on Thursday nights was classic.

Losing Jeff is rough. We spent a lot of time together.

Climbing wise I guess the funniest thing I remember about him was a debate we had about rappelling off of a barrel cactus in Mendoza Canyon. It was the middle of the night and we were very thirsty but we found time to argue. Throw the rope over the less than mature cacti and hope for the best or leave gear we may need to leave later? Whenever we started to make a decision, we'd switch sides of the argument and start the debate again. Not sure how it ended…

Or the time he followed the first pitch of the West Face of the Leaning Tower jugging with a full haul bag on his back. He got to the belay swearing and demanded we go down. Neither of us had any idea how to repel from there so instead he dug out the copy of "How to Climb Big Walls" We'd brought along. after reading up on how to haul we continued. Many days later we were almost swept down Bridalveil Creek trying to find the Gunsite and avoid rappelling with the bags.

Good Times

Great to hear of fellow (former) Flagstafftonians posting it on up!

Is 'Midge' short for Midgley as in ... you know the bridge, or is that in re to a species of gnat.

Anyways, Not knowing the full story, hope all Flag residents and visitors are chilling during the classic Monsoon!
