For all you folks out in Joshua Tree this weekend...thinking about running my 2 youngest little girls out there for a night or two. Saw that the weather reports are saying low 80's....What are your thoughts? Too Hot?
I know stupid questions.

It's going to be beeeutiful this coming weekend. I'm willing it!
Friends tell me the Monument has been really empty lately. On some very temperate days.
Another reason to bring the family.

The park has been quite empty because most people think its normal June weather that will burn their arses.
I was out there this past weekend,it was quite comfortable weather when the typical heat is usually scorching about this time.Even in the 80's its very doable with some sun screen, ice water(cold beers) and shaded climbs.Have fun with the kids =D

Thanks for mentioning that DR F
If you bring kids out this time of year it is wise to school them in the particulars of snake avoidance before you arrive.

It will be cooler inside the park. - Higher elevation, more wind.
There are a lot of tips on rattlesnake safety on the net.
An important few.
*look where you are placing your feet when walking. Most folks (especially children) seldom do this in everyday life.
* Don't reach into any shaded areas
*Don't expect to hear a rattler before you see him (or he sees you)
* Avoid walking through brush
* Snakes like to be cool when it's hot out and warm when it's cold outside. Think about where this can be achieved by the animal and avoid these areas.
Have a safe trip and enjoy a magical place!

Forget Indian Cove. It will be considerably warmer down there. Currently it has been incredible weather wise up here. I've been wearing a fleece early morning, but still in shorts. If you find shade in the afternoon you'll be golden. We have had some wind lately, but not every day.
Shoot me an email, maybe we can meet up!
