I've climbed at Moro, Chimney, Buck and others but never at Big Baldy. I have the Vernon book and looking to go there this weekend to check out By Gully, Spine Line, Drillathon and others.
Any info. on the approach? With the Forest Service Road closed we'd have to park at the trailhead. And go South along the base?
Finding the climbs easy? Any beta much appreciated.

Get a FS map & topo. The Chimney rocks road, then up towards the ugly radio tower is best if the CR road is open. Otherwise, it's a long hike in.

So ec, its a couple hours from the Park highway/ ~2 miles off-trail ??
& from the Chimney Rocks Rd its 15 mins......if it's open? prob not.
I might have that map somewhere. I'll call or drive up to see if the road is open.

Yeah, at least a couple miles. I last hiked that with snow; not good. The spur off of the CR road requires a 4X4 and you can drive damn near the top. Check with the Prather FS station about the road conditions.

Well we chose a few sport routes on Little Baldy including sparkler and prodenominator.
The approach was mostly snow free, the routes dry, and great slab climbing, well protected.
We're heading back for Big Baldy in about a month. Will post pics of spine line. Sounds fantastic!
2 more inches of snow up at 7000' in seki today.
