One of the perks of being a semi-employed lawyer is being able to take mid-week climbing adventures since I don't have to report to an office. One of the downsides is crying every time I have to pay for gas to go on those climbing trips. No one can sustain this lifestyle for long, and my time I fear is up.

Legal opportunities for the recent grad (and newly admitted bar member) are all but dried up. I've made due with contract work for a while, but finding a permanent position through regular venues such as Craigslist and mass mailers--I might as well focus on climbing 5.13 and getting a sponsorship. Most of these jobs looking for 2-3 years of experience are going to recently laid off attorneys with 5-6 years of experience.

I am turning to you, dear SuperClimbingCommunityTaco, for help. And your help will be rewarded! If you put me into contact with someone who can help me get a full-time legal position, or you can help me get a full-time legal position, after my first paycheck I will give you any piece of gear off my extensive rack! Some of these items have been fall-tested, and others hangdog tested. Some have nary been placed, like my C4 #6! (I will buy you a new single piece of commercially available climbing gear (less than $100), if you prefer instead.)

Here's what I'm looking for: Ultimately, I would like to practice trademark, copyright, and trade secret law in a firm. I have several seasons of this sort of practice under my belt, at various internships and contract work. I have recently also finished some work on a patent litigation project. I am not opposed to other fields of law, in fact I welcome the opportunity, but my focus for the past few years has been intellectual property. I am looking to remain in the San Francisco Bay Area. I live in an apartment in the city, and don't want to move. If my dream job pops up, I would consider it, though.

We all have friends and family who are lawyers or have used them. Hopefully someone knows an attorney looking for an associate in their firm. All I ask is that you put us in touch, and if that contact ends up in a job for yours truly, you'll have a pick off my rack or we'll go to REI (or your favorite shop) together!

I'm hesitant to post my resume on here since it includes private contact information, but if you think you can help, shoot me a line at tom.abeles.esq _[AT]_ gmail.com

Thanks climbing community!

Dr. X, not looking for my dream job, just looking for a permanent legal position for now. Who isn't looking for their dream job, though?

Dude that would cost at a minimum an entire rack through a head hunter.

PM me if St Louis isn't too far out of the way. I have a good friend who is a partner in a pretty big firm there.
