Is their a web address for Barry's Resoles? I want to send him a couple of pairs of shoes but I can't seem to locate a website with an order form? Thanks for any help!

Did a great job on a half-rand and sole for my Newtons couple years ago. Will be sending them back after this season.

Just got two back... like having two new pairs of shoes. Plus he's a big activist at Tollhouse and has added quite a few routes to the mix.

First time I ever used Barry we spent about half an hour talking about routes at Dome Rock. He was amazingly knowledgable about who has done what routes there and apparently had done many of the harder routes himself. We had a great time reminiscing and when I got my three pairs of shoes back they are perfect and still are a year later.

You can send the shoes but he will not do any work if you don't also send the money. As others have said he does great work and will call you if there is a question or the shoes need more or less than you paid for.

Used Barry a couple months back for 4 pairs of shoes. I can tell you, his communication is awesome. After he got my shoes, he gave me a call right away and gave me the low down on which shoes he felt deserved a re-sole and which ones were DOA. He does not try to scam you or do repairs that you really shouldn't do.
Ended up not getting one pair of approach shoes re-soled but he gave the old soles a re-glue anyway and now I can get a couple more approaches out of them before they go to the trash.
The other three climbing pairs were all in various states of dis-repair but came back to me in superb condition, all still fit perfectly, soles pristine. He even does stitching repair and fixed a couple of those problems as well.
All in all I would HIGHLY recommend him. I have used the Rubber Room, Marmot in Berkley and now Barry. Hands down, Barry is the man.
I paid with a blank, signed check that I stuffed in the box when I sent my shoes to him. After he called me, we discussed options and after he worked the quote I told him to fill the check out and he was good to go.
My .02 cents

I was just with Barry this weekend; I'm sure he was not taking any calls. He should start being reachable now. He does all my shoes, he's the best!

If he doesn't answer, leave a message. He's real good about calling back. I usually send a USPS Money Order but he accepts checks as well.

del cross - I am not positive, so you will have to ask Barry, but I think it is check/money order/cashiers check only. It is a little inconvenient but as a small business owner, screw the fees that credit card companies charge you. Personally, I fully support any small business owner in this aspect.
cheers

in the past I've sent him a check filled out for the amount of work I specified...
usually he calls before doing anything and discusses what needs to be done... once I had to send more money, another time I had built a credit with him...
I guess I'd send him a blank check as I do trust him, but anyway you want to work it, talk to him...
...usually he calls me after he gets my shoes in the mail.

I talked to Barry on the phone today. Great guy! Doesn't take credit cards but will take checks. I explained what I wanted done and he asked that I include my telephone number when I send my shoes in case additional work needed to be done.

Barry truly is a swell guy. I have had the pleasure of knowing him since about 1979 when we became caving partners, then canyoneering partners and only later, occasional climbing partners. When I first met him, he was a union paper hanger and in a pretty unhappy marriage. After a divorce, he met Leni and his life took a major turn for better. His climbing career really started with Leni as well. They have done FA back country routes all over the place and of course lots of stuff in the Tollhouse, Highway 168 area. Barry and I did a couple of the radder canyoneering routes in the Sierra back the mid '80s, so I am pleased to have shared that experience with him. Leni does not think much of those routes, so maybe I can find a mellow one with warmer water for her. Leni is taking up singing and has a wonderful alto voice, so I expect to hear her yodeling and singing on the routes in the future.
My shoes are so old that Barry just shakes his head if I show them to him. I did buy a new pair last year, but they probably won't wear out. Kinda sad.
I think most folks just send their shoes with their phone number, best time to call, and a check or cash in the approximate amount. There is no flash and pizazz with Barry, just slow, steady, beautiful craftsmanship. It is really nice that he has a wife and customers who appreciate that.
