Erm... I'm pretty sure that just a couple hours ago I've read a killer trip report here about some guys trip to South America and doing a FA deep in the jungle.
Title was something with "hospital breakout".

Where the hell is it gone, am I f.kin blind or something?!

Yes, it got deleted. It was posted prematurely, as in premature postulation....

You will see it next in a mag, hopefully Alpinist.

Or maybe in the forthcoming Idiot's Guide to Climbing in Venezuela.
Don't get me wrong, it was awesome as hell but prophylaxis didn't appear to
be his modus operandi. I don't walk in no friggin' jungle ifn I can't see
my feet. And if that is the case then you better wear better footwear or
use a stick to probe ahead.

His homie was really lucky that it was damn near a dry bite.
This is the result of an untreated Fer-de-lance bite.

Fer De Lance - (Bothrops atrox)

The Fer De Lance is an extremely dangerous snake and is the deadliest found in Latin America. It is widespread and found throughout both Central and South America. The Fer De Lance has been reported to cause more human fatalities than any other American snake. In the past, prior to effective antivenin being developed, the bite from this snake was lethal approximately 7% of the time. It continues to be a much feared snake due to it's fast acting and extremely toxic venom. Even with prompt treatment, Fer De Lance bites frequently cause massive tissue destruction, disfigurement and disability.

Yeah, yummy, eh? Only a couple of years ago one of the country's leading
experts was bitten by a Bothrops at the Nashville Zoo and damn near died
even with state-of-the-art care. His hand and lower arm are and likely never
will be the same.

Looks like the photos didn't make it unfortunately but it's still a good read.
