We're going to be in Sandy Eggo next weekend (March 12 & 13). Never climbed in the area, but I thought I might as well extend a business trip on Thurs/Fri and make it actually worth going.
Mari and I are probably going to hook up with Mooser's brother Keith, but haven't formalized plans yet, and any and all beta on the area is welcome.
We are tentatively planning to drive to Idyllwild on Saturday morning and stay for two days. Is Suicide going to be good next weekend? If not, what do you suggest?
We're looking for trad, multi-pitch if possible, nothing too hard (easy-to-mid 10 max).

Tahquitz/Suicide got hammered last weekend, tons of snow. If you're looking for sunny rock, multi-pitch, and will be based in SD, save yourself the drive and climb local.

"Is Suicide going to be good next weekend?"
Mid-March is typically a long ways from optimal Suicide/Tahquitz season. Last weekend brought a big dump (14"-20"), though it's been very warm since then and much has melted. Here's a shot of Suicide from last Sunday:
The forecast for the next several days is a small chance of rain/snow tomorrow, then clearer through the week- if that happens, you might luck out. Then again, any good Canuck shouldn't mind some wet slabs and cracks...

Not much trad at Eagle Peak or El Cajon Mtn, but great sport climbing. Its best to have 4 wheel drive for the trip to Corde Madera. If you need a trad fix, I'd head out to Joshua Tree. Just a little farther than Tahquitz and worth the drive.
If you do decide to climb sport, I'd recommend Eagle Peak. 3-4 pitch climbs that are fantastic. Search here on the forum and you'll get lots of beta. Have fun!

Woodson would be a great day out, really great crack climbing and some pretty good face stuff too. I've always had a soft spot for bouldering at Santee, some really great edging. It's shorter than what you're looking for, and for the most part the "trad" is bouldering and top roping, but you'll know you've been climbing.
I do think getting Kevin Worral to take you out to Eagle Peak would be one of the best things you could do though, that place looks great, I mean really really great.

Give me a ring/email if you'd like to go out to Woodson or Santee...the weather has been spectacular at both places lately and more anticipated!

I'd just go to JTree if Idyllwild has too much snow.
Valley of the Moon is fun - need 4 wheels and some clearance.
Haven't been to Eagle, but it sounds good.
El Cajon is sweet, but it's sport.
So ... JTree. (or surfing)
