Sounds goofy

I tested mine on the same Speedtest.net from yos valley to Modesto

69.66 Mb/s download

0.59 Mb/s upload

It says I can download a 800 MB movie in 3 minutes.

This is pretty much what we pay for. $28/month - lowest level of service.

Well

I'm 100 feet from the telephone building that holds the DSL switching circuitry.

So maybe that's why my speed always so fast.

My account is pro rated.

I just checked my router (Netopia business class) and some rascal from MUMBAI INDIA made 7 unsuccessful telnet attempts to login.

Good firewall .... heh heh

biotch, my momz is dealing with that down in so cal. can't get them to respond or deal with the fact that it is slower than dial up.

davidji, holy mackerel, that's some tight speeds there.

Ooo... this is fun. Old style Motorola Surfboard cable modem and a regular Comcast account. Not business class or anything fancypants about it.

hahahahaha, no wonder I can't hardly watch video. It's free, some weird long distance satellite based wifi.

I've been keeping tabs on this lately as well. I get good download speeds but not amazing upload speeds and once a month or so I lose all upload speed for a couple hours.

my pings to Colombo Shri Lanka are

269ms ping
.21MBs down
.0MBs8 up

but I'm connected using a usb modem via the Reliance 3G network.

A week ago I couldn't connect. actually it would connect i just didn't get any throughput. I think they were just brining a new repeater online as last night I tried and had pretty good connection.

but I can't really complain... I pay for total throughput on the plan.

the bandwidth may not be great but I can still be working and talking via skype with my work while sitting in a cush hut near world class boudering after a day with a $20 massage, 20 cent fresh coconuts, masa chai with milk that came from the local water buffalo, and puffin on some charas kicked down from a very magnanimous guy from Israel

taken from SF to SF server; similar results to nearest others up north. This is roughly what I normally get although I have seen this server develop speed below a meg especially on Sunday it seems, while servers up north are still running in excess of 20 mgb. It seems the SF server gets overwhelmed..

Wow Don,

Very impressive upload, I've never seen one so high.

.....

I'm so spoiled at this point, if I had anything less than 10 now, I hardly even surf let alone post.

I'm (visiting) deep in the sierra and my download is near 30.

Cheapest DSL option on Safari.

Crummy infrastructure in my hood.

Could be worse, Munge-- You could finally get to move up to the one-oh-ate and then learn what it's like to actually have to use WilldBlue. It'll make you long for dial-up.
