As long as its dry I think down wins out.
Who else has had to bivouac with nothing but a jacket?

On a lot of routes Max and I used just down jackets and packs for our feet. The last time I did the Nose with Max I bivied in a down jacket, a pack for my feet and the rope as a pad. I used to have a fiberfill half bags that I could just about stretch over my shoulders.

If she was with me, we wouldn't have needed a rope for warmth.

Ditto what Mark said for Nose ascent.
Once in a while the EMS bargain basement, Sierra Designs, down, 'Elephants Foot', foot sack made it into the pack.
I have a jacket I call the 'Bivy Jacket'.
It has never been on a long climb as it is a little to bulky.
But What a jacket for when belaying in the desert, winter, shade. It's a 'Gerry', Car length. It comes down well below my butt. Had a detachable hood. Key word, 'had'. Bomber warm, my dad wore it for years before I commandeered it. I bivied in it many times.
I retired it from daily use this fall when G.Davies sold me his Patagonia, fiber, micro-puff.
