I would like to say a special thank you to the amazing johntp......
Last year was a challenging year for our family;....basically, we were not cutting it financially with my one income for our family of five. I can honestly say that without the help from the climbing community, (mainly from supertopo)....we probably wouldn't have made it. I had to make some big decisions last year, and one of them was to sell alot of my climbing gear, including most of my cams.....that was a tough one, but one I needed to do. johntp purchased my cams from me, and helped my family out greatly at that time of need. These last few weeks , I have been getting alot of packages from all over the place from friends I know throughout the country. When I opened the packages at Christmas.....it was my entire cam rack that johntp had recieved from me; ....he had somehow mailed them to all my friends and to mail BACK to me,,,,,,AND all the pieces had all new sewn slings, all new trigger cables, and were all totally re-done and mint condition as good as new!!!!......this has to be one of the most awesome, nicest acts of coolness, kindness, thoughtfulness, and wonderful jestures that anyone has ever shared with me;.......anyways....johntp.....thank you from the bottom of my gracious heart, a very merry merry Christmas to you, and you are on the top of my most awesome humans list. As a footnote...my wife has returned to work (after 7 years of stay-home mom with our three small children), I have taken on weekend work guiding, and with the help from the climbing community (all of you) and the super-awesome johntp.....we are no longer "circling the drain" ...and on the road to some type of financial recovery, financial security, and some peace of mind free from the family worries we experienced last year. johntp and supertopo RULE and ROCK!!!!!!!!...I have always tried to share what I have with the climbing world...and I have been blessed with great friends, opportunities, situations, and kindness towards me...it's fairly unreal actually.....once again;....thank you all for coming to our aid, helping us out, and a special thanks to John.......MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Oh MAN! You have GOT to hang around HVCG with that rack of shiny slingage dangling, asking people where Toe Jam, Double Cross and Left Ski Track are....

Seriously, Todd - that is just some story - what a wonderful friend you have there! Truly in the spirit of the season!

This belongs on the Giving Back To Our Legends thread, maybe. Like it or not, Todd, you are one of them, too. Better than that, though, you're a friend. I thought John's plan was genius. He'll be glad that it worked. Pleased you're stoked, but then, you're ALWAYS stoked.
Merry Christmas, Todd.

Well ain't that a wonderful story! And all the better in that johntp didn't say a peep about it. Helping others in real need, anonymously, is one of the best things one can do.

I'm always impressed by the effort that Todd and family make to help with community things, such as the fundraisers for Roy and Jim, and also by Todd's regular, and often humorous or poignant, threads and posts. It was evident that there was a bit of financial difficulty for all that, and it's wonderful that someone should have thought to help. Now why didn't I think of that?

The only trouble is, now some people may think that Todd is a nOOb, with all his shiny new gear.

That is the best Christmas story I have heard in years and it couldn't have happened to a more wonderful, generous, beautiful soul than you, Todd. Merry Christmas to you and your amazing family. And Gigantic wishes for a fantastically abundant 2011.

I'm not sure anyone other than myself knows this story....

When we did the benefit for Roy John brought out some fish from a company in LA. It was by far the best fish I've ever had at my sushi bar.

So for BridwellFest I asked john to pick up fish from this same company. Which he did. But he was a little "busy" with his life and after dropping off a few boxes of fish at Todd's place he turned right back around and head back to LA. I can't thank him enough for doing that. I do my best to bring in the best fish I can find and John has done his part twice in ensuring that happens.

Awesome story - thanks John!

Merry Christmas to all!

What's weird here is that what Todd offers to our community hasn't been met with due justice. We owe him him more. Tell us what ya need, Todd.

If anyone was more deserving....it IS you Todd. Glad Santa made it down yer way and John will have some super good Karma comin' his way! That is what having friends is ALL about. Helping out in a time of need, giving without receiving and wanting no thanks or recognition. For all you've done for all of us, it good to see you on the receiving end for a change!
Peace
