Josh Helling left me a message last night that he was getting called out for a rescue this morning. There is a friend of mine on that route. Anyone got any details?

A team of 11 rangers and Josh are in the process of being flown to the top of El Cap as we speak.

They will hike down down from the top of El cap to the top of Tangerine Trip.

They will be supplied with their rescue gear there by helo sling load.

They will then lower 2 rescuers down to the injured for evac.

From there they will lower the injured climber to the ground.

Once on the ground me and 2 rangers will carry the injured climber away from the base of the wall to a location for CHP to hoist the patient to El Cap meadow for medical transport to hospital.

The remaining climbers will also be lowered to the ground from their current position on the wall.

Full extent of the injured climbers injuries will be known when the rescue medics reach the victim and do their evaluation.

The climbers were able to descend yesterday from their original position a ways.

This is it in a brief nutshell .....

Thanks Werner. That seems like encouraging news that they were able to lower themselves at least part of the way.

Wishing everyone the best in what has to be epic. Glad you're getting it before the weather hits. Indeed a good sign they were able to move a bit.

Peace

This is why it's tough debating Werner - because in climbing threads he can be so disarming.

Unfortunately, it was my friend. A 200lb rock got pulled down on her. Word on the street is that she's "OK." It hit her in the back/ribs. She's a tough woman, so I think she'll be fine.

Word on the street is that she's "OK."

That's hopeful, under the circumstances. And the weather is OK too, for now.

Wishing careful vigilance to all who are up there.
