Hope that's a rumor and things are OK and work out. I was down there earlier in the month and watched a 2 helicopter rescue of a hiker who evidently had tripped and fell down a rock section right off the hiking trail the very day our plane landed below Pantie wall. I commented on it to the other climbers nearby and they said they'd been seeing about a helicopter a day for hiker pull outs.
Wow!

We heard she fell 60 feet on Solar Slab and passed away. I've heard conflicting reports about what happened.
The only consistent news is that she did not survive. Hopefully that is incorrect.Very sad. Condolences to all touched by this.

On Friday around 11 am we were hiking out to do Cat in The Hat when a hiker told us someone had been hurt and to be careful but this was before this particular accident apparently. I never learned which one he was referring to. Perhaps the accident happened earlier than the 1 pm reported.
Then early Saturday morning we saw a helicopter land at a command center set up at the Red Rocks overlook. We hiked into the Oak Creek Canyon and saw the copter searching various places in the area. We climbed Johnny Vegas and were on our way out at about 3 pm when we saw another chopper hovering over Solar Slab Ledge. This is puzzling since the injured climber was taken off around 2 pm Thursday. So is someone still missing?

Rest in peace Heathey Gray.
Don't stand by my grave and weep, for I am not there,I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,I'm the diamonds glint on snow,I'm the sunlight on the ripened grain,I'm the gentle autumns rain, don't stan by my grave and cry, I am not there,I did not die.
(from the MP thread, worth repeating)

May God rest her soul. How tragic. And sad....
Be safe, people! And apparently she was safe, just an unfortunate accident.
Sad. I offer condolences to friends and family.

There is this version, too:
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond's glint on snow, I am the sunlight on the ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain, don't stand by my grave and cry, I am not there.
I was the energy that flows through all living things. I borrowed it for a time, what an amazing privilege. Whilst you still have your energy, your spirit, go forth and live it to the fullest - in joy, wonder and appreciation.

I wish I could take the pain away from those that knew her but I can't. But, again, this is the best time as any to beseech (beg) those affected by this loss (directly or indirectly) to secure their destiny before something such as this or another ends your life on this earth. I can't secure your destiny but I can direct you to the right resources. Leave me an email. May Heather meet her Maker.

Did you ever stop to think that the post you just made might offend the loved ones of the deceased? Or anyone else reading this thread? This is not a commercial break for your organized religion a$$h0le.
That said, This is sad news. To the family, be strong and know she was doing what she loved.

A solid climber heading out to cruise Solar Slab and grab some winter fun in the sun...then, unexpectedly, it turns tragic. Death. Even though we understand that our sport is dangerous, we don't expect to die doing it. So very sorry for her that it turned out so badly. As the MP post mentions, could have been any of us.
Condolences to her friends and family. RIP, sister climber.

Heather did not survive the fall. She did not regain consiousness and my hope is that her last memory is of being on the rock and doing what she loved. Thanks to all of you that posted condolences and wishes and love. It is a comfort at this time.
