Apparently quite a few of the dead were women.
This is being billed as the worst disaster to hit Cambodia since the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot of the seventies. That is saying a lot. And this new event was an effing festival.

People complain about all the rules in the US, but these are the kinds of things that happen without crowd control. Once a crowd panics, if there aren't lots of exits, then it can get bad quickly.
