I appreciate it. There are some really nice 4-5 pitch routes up in the Bridgers. The good stuff is on the buttress down to the R in the photo. I only have butt shots of the climbs.

Careful, hooblie has some "Old Guard" Montanan in him and remembers the Golden Age of Big Sky climbing;-)
Somewhere on this buttress is the:
Hooven-Leo Route IV, 5.9-5.10
This is the obvious line on the West face of Eeny that has a wide crack (almost off-width size). Two and a half pitches of up to 5.9 climbing leads to a section that leads right and up into some "hard climbing". This is about all that is remembered about the climb. FA Aug. 1979
from: Alpine Rock and Ice Guide to Southwest and Central Montana/ Ron Brunckhorst 2000
It looks like a great line with an awesome crack at the bottom--do you remember anything more about this climb hooblie? My guess is that Ron just contacted Brian about it...

ya, i remember a barrel on my back. post holing crotch deep breakable crust
with a layer of void and blocky talus beneath. every other hole didn't break.
or so you thought till you stood up and gawked,
then got dropped through a trap door.
and i remember two ice water runnels, one for each armpit.
and sneaking up on a gob of elk. that was the good part.
that pic would have stumped me. it was B.O. Leo's baby.
we wrapped both sides of a south buttress, starting on the west.
there's a sliver of stone up there, a 4' slender torre,
i coveted that thing ... to mark my grave.
turns out, didn't need it
~~~
nothing will be lost in terms of adventure
if you set out to follow that book's description.
West face of Eeny ... who comes up with this stuff?
1979, that much i'll vouch for
Stone Hill is a place worth spending a couple of days! I actually saw it in the early 80's driving to BC and thought it was a road cut. I ended up spending a week exploring and climbing a ton of stuff.
