Anyone have recommendations on where to stay near or in Yosemite in early November on a budget? We are east coast climbers who haven't been to the valley for over a decade. We will be in the bay area and have just two nights to head up. We have two kids who have never been and we really want to give them the experience of at least seeing the place even if climbing time is extremely limited.

Some people are still allowed to camp although dossing is even cheaper.

It is perhaps a 30+minute drive to the Valley floor, but if you want a better hotel/motel look into Oakhurst. I think it is nicer than Mariposa and cheaper than el Portal. Oakhurst is just minutes from the Wawona entrance.

Of course, if camping is an option you should be able to secure a spot at that time of the year. A step up (some would claim) are the Curry tents in the Valley.

Oakurst is over an hours drive from the valley, at this time due to construction on Rt. 41 you can add a half hour to that!

Yosemite View Lodge is about a half hours drive, rates might be lessened in Nov. for off season.
Indoor swimming pool, and hot tubs out doors, super nice. Some rooms have kitchens.

The valley has the some tent cabins with heat in curry village, rates vary at different seasons, cold in Curry Village, maybe ice forming on the ground.

There are also tent cabins/wood cabins at Cedar Lodge in El Portal, a friend of mine loves it there.
The Bug Hostel in Mid Pines is great as well.

Jobee... Is it really?! It never felt that long to me. I just checks GMaps and you are oh so correct. I withdraw that recommendation. I guess I drive too fast...

Thanks for the ideas. We are flying so we will have no camping gear.

You were just enjoying the beauty Plastic!
Oakurst is nice though, they have good pizza, and a theater.

Oakhurst has a decent Mexican Restaurant, as well as supermarkets.

However,
IF THE TRIP IS DONE ON A WEEKEND, THE DISRUPTION OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION IS MINIMAL!

I stayed outside the park at Summerdale CG at the end of August; not sure but I think it's closed in November.
