Freddie Green - the ultimate rhythm jazz guitarist. NEVER played a solo in his life.

My favourite old school tunes are Jumpin' at the Woodside and Two O'Clock Jump. Gimme a piano and a beer and I'll play 'em for you. Give me two beers and I'll stop.

I played the trombone solo in Tall Cotton, one of his later works when Sammy Nestico was his arranger. Wind Machine was another great chart.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, could swing like the Basie Band. Listen to the intonations - textbook perfection.

Last time I saw the Count he couldn't walk - he rode a little scooter into the piano. Couldn't walk, but could still play.
