Does anyone here know what ever happened to Fritz Fox, aka Fritz Mutant aka Freddy Mutant I think he climbed in the valley in the early eighties, and was the singer of great early punk band the Mutants. Even on the cover of Summit magazine rapping off a climb at Stinson Beach. Thanks Jeff

Partied with Fritz and Sally at the legendary Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco circa 1979. Mutants opened for our band ( D.N.A. ) and Eye Protection - good bill. I remember we were all ripped and tore up the dressing room pretty good. After the show we did speedballs with Todd Rundgren and Dirk Dirksen - Fritz passed out. Good Times!

Holy shit!! Someone who remembers Dirk Dirkson! LOL!
I used to go to Mabuhay all the time. Nobody checked ID's back then; you could get
in just about anywhere if you were cool (I was 18 in '79). I probably saw you guys.
I remember people used to throw all kinds of shIt onstage. Once a guy got hit in the face
with a bottle, and he was a bloody mess, yelling for "the fuçking coward pussy"
to come up and "fight like a man".
I will always remember Dirk's rambling, insulting, totally deadpan monolog at the end
of each night. Too funny! That guy was born to be a comedian. The scary thing is that I think he was serious.
I remember being genuinely afraid of the skinhead bouncers. We called them the Nazi Goon Squad.
They would beat people up (customers) for the fun of it, but people rarely called the cops for stuff like that back then.
The slam-dancing was crazy and exciting. Those were the days!

More Holy Sh#t, We used to party at the Fab Mab from late 76 till it closed in the early 80's I remember the Band DNA but not sure if I ever saw you guys. I remember Eye Protection being kind of a pop band. I remember leaving night school from Stockton at 9:45 making the 11:30 - 2:00 show and being back to class at 7:30 am. No way I could do that now. We used to go see the SF and LA bands and then my friends The Authorties started to play there. I'll always remember throwing the popcorn and even pogoing(pre-slamming)
I used to talk with Fritz about climbing when I saw his band play but I never got a chance to climbed with him.

Dirk was a hoot - think he was gay maybe it was his little dog " faggit " . He'd introduce us like " --And now from the mud flats of Alviso " in his most disinterested tone. North Beach was alive back then - Perverts on every street corner and not a cop in sight.
