So I just got back from camping for a few days with my wife, son, and three of our good friends, up at Deception Pass State Park (that's Washington, for the uninitiated). The weather was STELLAR, the views were awesome, and incredibly--we left our kayaks at home. DP--at max ebb, or max flood--is one of the funnest places to paddle in the general Seattle vicinity, and the weather this week was the perfect set up. Next time!

I did, however, bring my climbing gear. I'd read of this relatively obscure crag near DP (on Rosario Beach Rd.) called the "Refrigerator Wall," and it hosted climbs mostly in the 5.12-5.13 range (and fortunately for me--one 5.10c). Got on and led the 10.c with my lovely wife belaying, and set up a TR for anyone else who wanted to give it a go. No one got it, but they gave it their best. Below are some pics of my son, Joe, who got a tad over half way up.

If you've not been there, and you're in the general vicinity, give it a shot. It's right on the edge of the road, always in the shade (which is fantastic for this kind of uncharacteristically hot weather), and actually has some pretty great (and very overhanging) sport routes of decent length on it.

Looks like fun!
Are the moss-pinches on or off for those routes?

Moss pinches are on--if you want to turn a 10.c into a 13.c! I chose to keep it at 10.c.

Nice! There's also a pretty good, pumpy traverse, if you wanna go ropeless.

Thanks, donini. And Chim-chim, I think I confused you with Chinchen. Bet he knows this place.
