so a few years ago i went to crow hill to mini traction a little. i ran into a local guy i had run into in the valley and we climbed a little before i had to leave. he told me that there was one evening a week when the locals showed up. i thought it was wednesday.
for the past few years, every wednesday i have been around it has been raining or i have had something else to do. so this past wednesday imagine my disapointment when i showed up and noone was there. i did try to redeem myself by soloing the first route i ever climbed (hang dogged) twenty years ago...i backed off the 5.5 roof though. two couples showed up, but i was too shy to try to bum a top rope and just bouldered around the base.

so is there a designated evening for locals at crow hill anymore? the mini tractioning is kind of a pain.
thanks.

thanks todd,
but i need someone to climb with. i am a little squimish about climbing with people i don't know. i was in an accident last year where my partner took a lead fall, pulled gear, decked, and died in my hands. that is why the idea of topropes appeals to me when climbing with people i do not know. then i don't have to belay someone i don't know on lead,(or have them belay me) and i won't be alone.
i might have climbed cromagnum last time i was there, i'll have to check my book. if i recall correctly i got worked....

Since I live a good bit west of Crow, and with Farley and other crags much closer, I don't get over there that often these days, however to my knowledge there are still usually some folks there most afternoons/evenings with decent weather.I'd check with the folks at Central Rock Gym in Worcester, they might have more up-to-date info or you might be able to make contacts with folks there who want to head to Crow. Of course, it could be that with the opening of that gym last summer, most folks are opting to climb indoors these days (one recent route at Central was named "A.C., No Bugs") or are heading west to climb at Farley.

The Worcester AMC used to have a designated night - either Tuesday or Thursday - I forget. Like Alan said you might get some beta at Central Rock especially if you can find John Grote - routesetter "JCG" there. But as others have said therre usually are some folks there when conditions are good. Just need to work on your "barging in skills".

I may be around this weekend, as my daughter in law is expecting, and overdue.
I am in N.H. the majority of the time but still live in Massachusetts.
If she has the baby soon, I will probably go out and visit them in Western Mass., so I may be around for the weekend. Done Cro-Magnon a thousand times.
Shoot me an Email, with your phone number.
