Building on other threads, let's get up a list the most common pop culture themes for crags or groups of routes, especially the ones that date the development of the area. This came up a while back among some of my crew when we were talking about simpsons and south park route names, and wondering if there were any Chapelle show names out there yet, and whether 20 years from now anybody was going to have any idea why "Cheezy Poofs" would be next to "I Don't Hate Black People, I Hate Hippies."

For starters, here are ones I've actually seen:

Zappa (as mentioned before)
Hendrix (ditto)
The Flintstones (plenty of groaners there)
Beatles (these don't seem to have a particular era)
South Park
Simpsons
Tolkein
Led Zep
Led Zep-specific Tolkein
Star Trek
Star Wars
Heinlein
Guns n' Roses
80's hip hop
Spinal Tap/other mockery of 80's metal
Sonic Youth
Hunter S. Thompson

Let's hear 'em

Little known fact: Stevie Wonder named his song "Fingertrip" after the climb at Taquitz. It was his first lead.

(my previous post was 99.46% pure lie. I suppose it could be true, but seems very unlikely.)

There's a crag in BCC Utah with a number of Talking Heads song names:
Take Me to the River
Crosseyed and Painless,
etc

I'm sure the FAists wore lycra.
