hey there say, all... we ALL know how fun and invigorating a "FULL RUN" can be...
so do critters! and perhaps more-so than we do...
so please share the fun....
(or a critter in full run, too, even if it is chasing another critter, or, running from such-a-one)
and--neebee has finally GONE DIGITAL CAMERA mode!
my twins buddies sent me a used one, being that L's wonderful wonderful try to send me hers, got lost in the mail in the mail somewhere... :(
only trouble i see, is that they sure use up lots of batteries
course---i was PRACTICING on how to use it, and the video, and such and the "screen view monitor" uses up the batteries fast, too, as you all already know... :)
well, back to the share...
post them if you got them:

astra is a parti cocker which puts her in a minority, not typical buff or black but white with spots like spaniels of other types.
her short stature in no way diminished her exuberance and athleticism.
her breed's job classification falls into the flusher category so whatever your heading might be, she'll cross your path
one side to the other and back, diving under every bush within a fairly wide range.
every excursion was her's in her mind so when we took to riding bicycles on the shoulder of the road the solution involved a thirty foot length of light bungee. i would lead the parade, there was only one requirement for the bicyclist in trail, keep the cord tight.
in that sense we were riding in tandem and this has worked well on tours where long grades were involved.
to accomodate astra's style, a loop was introduced mid length, and her collar was exchanged for a harness that restrained her
from above the shoulder blades, the slack under the armpits absorbed by the stretchy deflection in the taughtline.
she understood her cone of comfort immediately, and complied happily. the second rider could enforce a proper lope,
the dog was not otherwise prone to pacing herself. but by far most of our outings involved no rigging for traffic.
a favorite memory of her running full blast was up a pair of tire ruts which engulfed her to the belly in talcum like red "moondust."
burned into my mind is the image of her in full sprint, curving off into the sunset, backlight on her widening plume.
her ears flapped madly like a quip on quarterhorse, a little white comet of freedom at the tip of an outlandish glowing tail

hey there all, say, this is so FUN! ... the joy these critters feel and let us view, as the "second to the fact" is beyond words, sometimes...
not all the pics have loaded yet, for me, so i need to wait for a bit...
so please excuse if i can't share neat comments yet...
but from the words, i can well imagine, til they unfold...
say---i just really GOT to see the pug running in chest deep snow... :O
*also, chaz... wow, i know... isn't that something... as to the front feet and such, on patty ann...
the greyhounds do this, too, that is why they race so fast...
whippets are the (so said in the old days, the poor man's greyhound)...
said again, whippets are a smaller verion of a grey hound, and are sight hounds...
there is something about the their spine, and the lower back bones, that are different, so that they can curve, and do this...
very ODD ... i was very surpirsed the first time she ever raced this way...
really SHOCKED.. i though she'd gone "nuts" for a second, when she took off in large circles in the fenced yard... (she doesn't always do this... other runs, are just a dog canter, etc)...
well, here i go to wait for these neat pics...
(i will try to find a running grey hound, too, reallyyyyyyy strange looking to see in mid action, if one can get it...)

A friend's dog, frolicking in the snow during a ski trip. Probably hoping that we'd throw a snowball. There are few things more fun than to watch a dog burrowing in a snowdrift looking for a snowball.

Me and my Jackson's chameleons that I plucked from the trees in Hawai'i. The males are the smaller ones with the three horns. One of the females gave birth to eight live young, all of which survived. Here they are in FULL RUN, a top speed of perhaps 5mm per second.
Believe it or knott, even Floyd Collins the box turtle is faster than the chameleons!

hey there billo... man oh man... look at that dog go!... say, what kind of dog is your dog?... very strong runner... patty has leaped over the snow a few time, doing that, but i dont know if she been that dramatic... however, she has never had a chance to really "cut loose" as she is in a small fenced yard of the neighbor's when she gets to run...
survival... wow, a horse... i love to see horse pics...
weschrists... that is the best deer in action shot, that i have ever seen!... many a time i wish i could catch a pic... never had a camera, or got anywhere near...
mr e, you cat had me laughing... mine do this at the oddest times...
oh my... i think i will be smiling all night now...
