On the Cohn Property lately, there's been alot of shooting. Sure sucks having to hear target shooting all day in the park.

I'm a recreational shooter and gun owner.

If I lived on the Cohn property I would certainly have the class to lay low with the gunplay on weekends when the park is full of folks trying to find some peace.

This is the kind of behavior that earns shooters a bad rep.

just be thankful they're not "target shooting" with a 50 caliber chain gun.

Sure makes a lot of noise... Just saying.

Maybe open up a moto-cross track to, that would bring in a lot of folks.

Just saying...

and what happens, on the 1 million to 1 odds.... a ricochet smacks into a bago in HV???

Just saying...

and we can't use a bolt gun...

Just saying...
looking sketchy there...

As long as the bullets stay on the property, no crime committed.

But, as Kris observed, a lot of things that are legal are still pretty poor style -- and probably not the best way of convincing people that gun owners are responsible sort of folks.

As to all RokJox's knee-jerk spew about property owner rights, yada, yada. You are wrong on all counts:

The facts are: the people who live there are not the owners, do not dislike climbers (actually are climbers), etc.

" ...But i bet they where not the airforce's best anyway! "

Actually that F-16 mod was piloted by a NASA pilot.

Back on topic, I think one basic of responsible gun ownership is to know when and where to shoot. Disturbing people vacationing in a National Park is not cool.

People have a right to enjoy recreation in whatever way is appeling to themselves.

I'm guessing that some people don't want to see or hear climbers climbing when they want to take a stroll in JTNP.

To each their own!

Similar too Ksolem's story:

Topo flying?
Some term like that, for letting the computer guide the aircraft at a given height off topographical features?

Didn't that happen fairly often (BITD) with jets out of Twenty Nine Palms flying in/over the park.

I assume that doesn't happen anymore and has not for many years?

This is JT at it's best. Bombs, F-16's, gun fire, just like the old days.

Just put down the park pass and go back to the gym.
