I was kinda shocked that he never did any recovery program for his alcoholism. I figured he'd gone through AA at least. No wonder he relapsed. True alcoholics have a hard time staying dry without a support system based on some type of recovery program.
Then again the traits AA preaches...humility, admitting your mistakes, taking responsibility for your actions, apologizing to others, etc....he has none of those qualities so he wouldn't have lasted in AA anyway.

The interesting thing about GWB is that he has the emotional maturity of a teenager. When our kids were in their teens, nothing was ever their fault. They expected to be bailed out at every turn. Our kids grew out of that and became responsible adults. But George Bush never did.
Now GWB is off to Texas for a photo-op before Rita hits so he can avoid all the bad pics published before Katrina hit. Just like a kid who failed a midterm because he wasn't doing his homework, he's sucking up to the teacher to get his grades back up. But doing some actual work for the grades - forget that.
There was some study recently that pointed out how addictive personalities have a hard time multitasking. Like a dog (or a dHOG) with a bone, GWB had his teeth into being on vacation. Switching to Katrina would have been difficult for him. Now he's off to Texas. Makes you wonder what ball he's had to drop to focus there. And if he's drinking again... he's probably close to incapacitated.
