As Postmaster, did he somehow mail himself from his desert towers to those real mountains?
Okay, don't shoot me Ron. I didn't mean it. As long as you've got that gun, desert towers count as real mountains.

I like all the icy reflections.
Good one, Mr. Haan.

It's not a halo.
It's a Ronticular cloud.

And all this time I thought Jimmy Newberry was the king of postmasters.
By the way what is that beautiful mountain?

Philo,
It would normally be instantly recognizable if it weren't for the fact that Piton has been hogging the fabled summit for quite some time now; it's Cerro Torre of course with all the other little Piton Ron summits nearby watching. The Torre Egger gun could be bigger, it's true; I was kind of surprised too!! (g).
As for St. Donini's comment that the halo "is out of place", the obvious double entendre is cool Jim, for sure! But back to reality, it actually IS a Ronticular, as Captain notes above. They are formed by high speed very cold laminar winds running in a self-congratulatory circle, speeding in excess of 10,000 ppm (posts per millenium).
The thought does occur to cook up another Donini image though, of Jim and Piton struggling in a tug-o-war over a single halo high up on some summit. WHO GETS THE HALO?? kind of thing, you see.

I don't get it. Postmaster? What does that have to do with the mountains? Probably dumb - what am I missing?

Ghost, your cited link is correct. Ron makes note there that he has made over 10,000 posts etc and so we play here about he being "postmaster".

Oh yeah of course. That is why it looked so familiar. But without the iconic summit and with Ron's craggy visage clouding up the shot it had me stumped.
Peter you are on a hot roll. Very funny stuff.
