Why not Santa Cruz? Cheap venues and the awesome Pacific Edge climbing gym. It was good enough for Lance Armstrong as a stage in The Tour of California two months ago.

Tucson usually shows strong support for climbing related shows.
There are many venue options too.

SteveW... Thanks for that lead. I will pursue it.
BVB... "town full of sport weenies, gym rats and wannabee barneys got no respect for the oldschool. it'll be, like, "yabo who?" " All the more reason to go there so they can learn their history!

Here's a caption from the Stonemaster book - can't reveal the exact nature of the pic in question, only that it features your friend and mine - da Fish:
"As the shadows crawled and the hammers were holstered, some marooned on the Big Stone were known to swill cheap liquor in order to push the night along."
Though it's a pile of work, we're having a blast putting the last touches on the book.

PS: The "Ain't the shoes" line was cribbed from a comical entry in the book courtesy of Double D.

Credit where it is due... Thanks to DoubleD for this post (in response to an original Largo thread) somewhere back in time...
"Ok, I just though of another really funny incident. When I was a freshman in high school we were on a week trip with Yosemite Institute and I was showing a friend Kia around the Swan Slab bouldering area when low and behold, there’s Largo doing laps on, well, the lap boulder. I knew who John (Largo) was because I had bummed a ride with a friend of Rik Reider's the day that you guys all started up Stoner's Highway on Middle. So seeing you bouldering was kind of like running into Tiger Woods at the driving range. Kia had seen my shoes (old PA’s) and asked me what type of shoe John was wearing. I’m like trying to keep the conversation in hushed tones as we stood there gawking and explained that those were the new EB’s and that EB’s totally rule.
I’m sure we were way blowing your concentration just twittering away. You turned, slightly perturbed and said, “it ain’t the shoes!”
To this day that always busts my gut, but sorry for blowing your concentration and being such a geek! "

Don't worry those of you who don't see your state/region/city listed... this is a long-winded tour, we will get to you (or at least near most of you.)
In the meantime, anyone with venue ideas east of the Rockies drop me a message and I'll check it out.

when and where do tickets go on sale?
and when is the book available?
And you could ask the clubs at UCBerkeley or Stanford if there is some accommodation that could be made at a campus, in conjunction with the club...
Both cleo and Clint might know how to get started there...

The Book is actually available now for pre-order from Stonemaster Press, the publisher.

The Introduction and Backwords are listed to get a glimpse of what's to come.
Note; the cover is still in design and the one shown is just a place holder.
