Glen Denny, one of the original big wall boys from the Valley is giving his "Yosemite in the Sixties" presentation on June 18th in Portland, Oregon.

If you have never seen these gorgeous photos or heard his stories of the FAs of the Dihedral Wall, North Face of the Rostrum, Kor-Denny on Sentinel or the East Face (Astroman BITD) of the Column then you need to be here!

We will also have artifacts from Glen's historic climbs on display.

Tickets are $12

There will be a gear raffle as well as a book and poster signing.

This is the start of a monthly series of shows I am producing. Future scheduled shows include John Bachar, Royal Robbins, Jim Donini, The Stonemasters with Largo & Bullwinkle, and Dean Caldwell on the 39th anniversary of the FA of the Dawn Wall.

Tickets available here: http://www.shop.vershke.com[/b]

Glen Denny's work is amazing. I grew up looking at both his and Tom Frost's photograhs, they set the bar quite high. . .df

Fantastic book,
This is another show that would have a huge turnout in any number of venues in SF Bay Area.

As we approach Glen's show (June 18) I want to make sure everyone knows the value of buying your ticket BEFORE the event. It's simple...

Option #1:
Buy your tickets before the event and get them for $12 each. (Some shows may be higher)

Option #2:
Buy your tickets at the event and get them for $15 each. (Some shows may be higher.)

So why not save enough for a beer? Pre-order tickets and sleep well knowing you won't be faced with a "SOLD OUT!" sign at the door!

You should go see Glen. He once got in shape and hiked the high sierra loop (55 miles over some 11000 foot passes) and when he got done he was really wiped out. So he wondered, is this the limit of human endurance? Or, did I not adequately condition myself? And so he condidtioned himself to the extreme and did the thing in 11 hours and was not wiped. Take that you "no approach" lazies.

The only thing I'd think of to ask him would be about after he and Colliver were rescued from the Lost Arrow tip. They fell victim to a sudden snow storm on 4/7/62 (they were in T-shirts and got stuck in the notch due to icing ropes) was why he never thanked any of his rescuers. We humped all the winch and cable crap up the trail in the dead of night (at least there was a moon) and then lowered Wayne Merry and equipment down. Hand cranking that sucker was hard work. When assured they would survive we hiked back down.

I was around in the early 60's, but Glen never got a photo of me, or if he did, he didn't put it in his book. Some of my sterling qualities and adventures may be found by searching "BBA" on Supertopo.
