T*I*G,

This thing hangs from a kite:

I move the camera and hit the shutter via remote-control.

Home built?

Off the shelf?

Too many trees to try that at the gunks!
I would need a Charlie Brown shirt to try that.

Post picture of it taking a picture! please.

"Home built?
Off the shelf?"

A little of both.

The aluminum frame parts are made specifically for this. The servos and radio stuff came from an on-line hobby/airplane site. As you can tell, it's home-built. Complete units, as far as I know, aren't commercially available.

Google "kite aerial photography" and you'll probably find other rigs that look alot like mine.

EDIT: This is how The French Army did it in WW1:

Really nice pix. Queen Mountain would be a rad staging area, but I'm not going to volunteer to hump that rig up there. The lookout point up above Black Mountain could provide days of entertainment.

And the video rocks. I even like the sound track. Don't think that's what they were listening to, though.

It's only the kite part that I left in the parking lot last time. I've replaced it since.

Maybe a kid found it!

Very cool indeed.

Have any shots of folks climbing from the air? Or have I missed them?

Looks like someone on Walk on the Wild Side in the first two pictures. Definitely people at the base of that or the adjoining routes.

ps Rather cool pictures, too.

Chaz: That's way cool. It sorta got me thinking...maybe you could show this thing to DR and Sean Jones for their next 1/2 Dome route and avoid some controversy???
