Tony Puppo is awesome but for my money...
Who could deny the sincerity?

Hmmm...
I would contact Lisa at Acopausa.com about those shoes. Don't forget to send the pic too. When I was hanging around them, I never saw anything like that...
They would really be interested, especially since they do have high standards.

I have contacted Lisa, this is my second pair. The first pair blew after one little trip up the RNWF of 1/2 dome. She replaced them (awesome service, had a new pair by the end of the week) no questions asked. This pair put up a little more resistance but still delaminated prematurely.
I don't feel like bothering them again. I love the shoe, but the rubber sucks IMO. Besides the delam problem, the rubber has a fine lined friction point. Instead of smearing off an edge or slab, it tends to just blow off. So they suck at everything accept OW's, which they rock at. Figure I'll just have them resouled with something I like, like Onyx.

Strange,
I own a pair of JB's now for a year. Climbed regularly in them around Mammoth and had no problems.
So please contact Lisa again, you will be doing Acopa a favor. No one wants a bad batch out there.
That is why Acopa has excellent service, they want to serve the best.

I remember Jules well. Which brings up the question, has anyone seen Robert Finley around lately? Just curious on my part...

The best?
Locker!
I've sent some gym rats his way, and they RAVE about the resoling job! I even get to see the resoled shoes!
Nice work, Locker!
Love,
Spud
P.S. Went to visit Steve Komito at his shop years ago...wasn't he called the "boot-taker"? Took about two years to get the old Galibier boots back from him.

I sent my Makalus to him last year. Talked to him on the phone about them and he spent quite a bit of time talking about the issues that pop up with the older style Makalu. The turn around was pretty quick and they did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to send him any business.
And locker must've got some great secrets from Barry, 'cause he did a really nice job on my Megas.

"those shoes reveal a lot of bad things about your technique. If they were mine I would hide them."
I was thinking the same thing, Kris! For being only a "couple months old" those shoes look like they've been through hell! The Finley stories at the campfire were fun, Kris! We never made it over to Finley's Crack. Next trip. How was Rincon?
Barry sharing trade secrets?! Wow! That's awesome for you, Locker! I haven't been able to try Locker's resoles yet, but Barry's stuff is top notch! All of my shoes go there. Of course, his door is only 35 mins from mine. The only other resole service I've tried is the Rubber Room in Bishop. I was largely unimpressed. The shoes fit entirely different (half size smaller, for one) when I got them back.

I had Locker do three pairs of shoes for me at the beginning of this summer. He did great work at a reasonable price.
On my favorite vintage pair (Scarpa Le Menestrel) I had Locker put on the super-grippy MI6 rubber by Five Ten. They are working better than ever.
Positive Resoles--Do it.
