I played poker with Sinson last night. He will be chipping in his $10 after missing the weigh-in tomorrow. I'll be down 5 lbs easy at the two week mark.

Didn't get a ruling on the knee injury...might make it hard to get all 10 off. Guess I might be hosed.
No problem with the 4 for tomorrow...
Seen a lot of complaining about percentage and all that about it not being fair for skinny people. If you need a Diet Challenge, you should easily have ten lbs to lose. If you're skinny, then count your lucky stars.

I have to have a strong aerobic component to my program or I'd never, and I mean never, lose weight or do it so slow as to not be worth the effort.

Wait just a minute here Greg. We just established that the weight should just melt off during sleep for guys like you and now you're claiming injury? We'd consider death and maybe hospitalization. Other than that, you're committed.
What about Janiec...she started with a knee injury and she's hanging in there. Leg lifts (scissor), abs, arms, backs, 1 leg calf exercises, pull ups, push ups, jump rope 1 leg....
Do I get a free pass for doing no activity what-so-ever? Nope, how 'bout Riley for being lazy as Hell....Nope.
You'll be fine Greg. Remember that Russ did the Mace in a knee brace...the hike and everything.

All -
I busted Kate (aka The Raven) working the menu at The 'Roads' last night. Kate....when will you stop molesting the brownies there?
Good seeing you yesterday....quite the following you got going on there. HA! BTW, do you have Randy's number? Can't find it on this end. Let's work on some plans to wander out to Shuteye Ridge this spring before I lose you to The Captain :P

Dang...no love around here. Just for that, I'm losing that weight if I have to eat rice cakes between now and then!!!
I'm just like healyje up above, though, if I don't have a pretty hard core exercise program to go with the dieting, things move along pretty damn slowly. Figure my creeping-metabolism probably has something to do with being on some workout program or another since the mid 70's. My metabolism practices the first law of conservation of energy...
Wait...I think my knee feels better...I don't want to go on the cart...I feel happy...I think I'll go for a walk...
Good luck Janiec (sp?)!! I'm with ya baby!!! You can do it!!!

Just managed to whack out a bit over ten miles on the mountain bike... knee did okay if a little wobbly. Get the odd pain if I push with it a little out of line. Last days with little activity and lots of Vitimin I got the inflammation down...sure wish I could run, though...sigh.
BnSLC: Gimme a heads up dude. I'm in...may not be able to hit the brewery, though, if the Challenge is still going on...

see but that's the thing about "dieting" - once they lose weight a lot of people just gain it back and have to do things like the diet challenge every year. you can't just deprive yourself. nothing is wrong with the occasional brownie. some of these regimes you guys have listed don't seem sustainable. you have to figure out how to make healthy living a lifestyle. and i don't really understand measuring this by pounds either. also, you tend to always be fluctuating by a few pounds so it's best to at least weigh yourself naked in the morning, after you've gone to the bathroom. and btw, you can gain quite a bit of fitness, lose several inches and gain muscle, which is heavier than fat. i've gone down four sizes since last year, and lost at least 25 pounds and i feel much better. i'd still like to get down two more sizes - yes, i got THAT out of shape. long story. however, i wouldn't want to do something like this challenge because one it's too public for me and two, while i agree it is a good thing to have a group to motivate you, i don't really agree with the measuring system so i wouldn't want to put $$ into it. i am lucky in that my friend and neighbor down the street is doing the same thing i'm doing and we motivate eachother and always chat on our walks / jogs which is nice. i can even wear her old clothes now, which is cool because i didn't have to buy a bunch of stuff or go through the hell of trying to sew stuff. and then i can pass them on to other friends and we can all share stuff and save money :)

The two week weigh-in is today. Anyone that didn't lose 4 lbs coughs up $10 in to the prize pool. Two have reported via email - myself and greg. We're both down 4.5.
Where are the fat people with the ten bucks?

Two week status reports are in. For those of your following the challenge, participants had to lose at least 4 pounds by the two week weigh in.
Susan - down 7
Russ - down 5
Nature - down 4.5
Radical - up 5 - $10 penalty
Debora - down 6
Nancy - down/up 0 - $10 penalty
Justina - down 4.5
Janiec - down 5
Sandy - down 4
Steelmnky - down 4.5
Tim S - down 3.5 - $10 penalty
Timbo - down 4
Tommy - down 5
Crotch - down 5
Mini Cheese - undisclosed - $10 penalty
Eddie Moe - down 6
Holdplease2 - down 4.5
The real goal of this challenge is to motivate each other to lose weight. Sure, it's always fun to win the money but it would be just as fulfilling if we all lost the 10 pounds. At this point we all have the same chance to win splitting the pot at $2.35 each!
