I'm cowering in fear having my first post also be an entirely new topic, but I'm a HUGE climbing history buff and can't find any information on the history of the quickdraw (in reference to sport climbing). I'm facing a duality of intimidation but also admiration of the knowledge on ST so here are my general questions, any info would satiate my curiosity!
I've reached out to DMM, Petzl, and BD but have no idea who first started bar tacking the dogbone to create a stiff draw for sport climbing? In fact... Who coined the term 'dogbone?'
Petzl patented their rubber STRING that now has lots of incarnations, and DMM was the first to heat forge their carabiners, but that's all the info I've got.
When do you remember seeing your first bonafide sport climbing draw? Who made it? Images, wisdom, and any historical knowledge appreciated!
Thanks! Rip into me, that's fine, but if you pepper it with some knowledge bombs I'll actually care.

The first time I heard the term "quick draw" was when Barry Bates used it. This was in Camp 4 in the early 70's (1971?). He had several usual length slings that were doubled up with two biners and clipped to his hard ward loop. I'm not claiming that he had the idea first, or coined the term. That was just the first time I heard it used, or saw the item. Due to the increase speed of clipping the rope the idea gained popularity quickly.
Like most ideas among humans, it most likely occurred to several individuals simultaneously.

The first time I heard the term dog bone was not climbing but working as an industrial rigger. It is a term usually used for a 2 foot piece of Steel with a swaged eye on each end
vvvvvvb I thought so too but I figured I would just play along
