reports of his death are not official, seems like media people are just positioning themselves so they can say that they were the first to report it. It will happen soon enough, no need to rob a great man of this last dignity.

I remember the day he got out of jail. Watched the news and his speech live in the Hostel in Teton Village. There are moments of history you don't want to miss if you get the chance.

What am amazing man and life.

Go in peace and comfort sir.

A great man, and a great spirit. Like Gandhi and Martin Luther King, he showed what can be accomplished without violence. One of the true heroes of the 20th century.

I grew up listening to that Special AKA song (sorry, it wasn't the specials exactly) and actually got all goosebumpy when they let him go. what an awesome man.

rSin,

you just can't help yourself, can you?

Sheesh.

The underdog, who was oppressed and tortured for decades, generations in forced poverty. And then, he attained total power over his oppressors.

How many movies have been made of that scenario? Hundreds? Thousands?
We all know what happens next...the payback, the slaughter, the revenge.
All of it predicted.

And what happened? None of it. Peace and reconciliation.

What am amazing, brilliant man of peace and liberty.

Of course, there are those who make the good the enemy of perfect. Perfection is not obtained in life, for the most part.

I can clearly remember the day he was released. I was living in Boston. Three weeks later Jocelyn and I saw Johnny Clegg and Savuka at Harvard's Sanders Theater. It was a wonderful thing. A great and inspirational man.

"Asimbonanga" is Swahili for "We haven't seen him." The song was released in 1986. The first time I heard it was 1987. Jocelyn and I were pulling into the Valley after a day at the Cookie. Funny how these things come back to you.
