With all the climbing areas around Shaver and Courtright area I had never been to Dinkey Dome. I finally decided to go and take a break from projects. I hooked up with Justin Pattison who I met on the taco. Met this morning at 0700 and my girl joined us.
Find the spur off Rock Creek Road only took a couple u-turns. Great parking and camping spot. Hike in wasn't too bad at about 45-1hr with two stream crossings. In big snow years Dinkey Creekmight be tough to navigate.
The amount of rock is impressive in that gorge and a lot of new lines were placed in the memory banks for a later FA. The walls across from the dome have seen some activity with about
6-7 bolted routes.
We decided to climb Brown Streak and then Dinkey's Twinkies. Both 5.7 to warm up. Good rock with good pro.
After the second climb we were running out of time. I came back and could not find my girl. Justin points her out. She is free soloing a 5.5 two pitches up!
I call to her and she decides to down climb.
She makes it down and is a bit bloody. Little tape job and we are off to the car because I have a wine party to attend.
So proud!
And sorry for the sideways pics. Dinkey Dome is definitely a nice place.

Looks awesome up there, wish I could have joined!
You should teach your dog that she doesn't need to tape up for a slab climb

Wow! Doesn't look like there was much flowing in the creek for this time of year.

Yah. Water low with very little snow pack.
I taped her up cause she wanted to flash a .9 crack across the creek.
Really tho her nails were bleeding from clawing her way up and some of her pads were raw. She walked out of the tape on the way back.
No rap anchors on the routes we did. Walk off the SW side. We were able to rap off a few flakes on Brown Streak to save time.

In the first pic I posted, you can see part of an arch in the bottom left. The new 6-7 sport/mixed routes are to the right of the arch. You can also see several crack systems that I am sure have all been climbed.
A sport wall is also mentioned in the SEKI guide up stream. I believe the far rt side of that same pic is the general area of the sport wall mentioned. Anyone have beta about any of the additional routes or sport wall?

Caveat: I climbed there over a decade ago.
The sport wall is upstream on left side. I remember it as maybe 50' with two routes, maybe hard 5.10 or easy 5.11, with enough bolts to not be scary. Not sure who put them up but they are nice routes. I probably told you nothing you didn't already know.

I didn't make it up to check out the sport wall. I imagine there are more than two routes now with more development in the area. Lot of rock in that that gully.
Maybe flydude will include it in his new guide?
