Any old tidbit--fishing, camping, photography, lore, STories, ski touring, water skiing, from aloft, from way in the past, above or below clouds, in your dreams, and Ferdinand and other characters--just as long as you can reasonably use Tioga in a sentence or convey the idea of Tioga in a photo. Or Saddlebag. Or Dana. You get it.
Hey, it'd be good to see some posts about the C word, but let's not go crazy. Unless you want to. And fun begins at about 9,000 feet.
"From Conness."
edit: Saddlebag Lake Resort has had its share of making Sierra history. Originally built by the Gardisky family in the 1900's, the resort was later owned by the Berglund family, who sold it to the Grover's in 1960. The Grover's' operated the concession for 26 years. In 1986, they semi-retired and sold the resort to Don and Lois Stennerson, who ran the business until 1997. Saddlebag Lake Resort is currently owned by Richard and Carmen Ernst of Modesto. http://saddlebaglakeresort.com/History.html

I used to go fishing in Ellery Lake after a day of climbing to get some fish for dinner. No need to go around collecting bottle and cans for the 5 cent refund if you've got a fishing pole!

This thread led to that thread which led to this remarkable photo of several well-known and liked people who knew and must have liked Ferdinand.

Hoss Julia, Great Pictures.....miss you Gal. Without my friend Julia I would never have had the opportunity to live in one of the greatest places on the planet each summer. Julia got me my job at TPR.
I met Julia here at the ST campfire and then later in person and we became friends. Tacoettes for life. Julia knows so much about the Sierra. I was at a Sierra Club lecture Tues. night and one of the speakers kept saying Sierras.....I thought, if Julia were here she'd school him fo' sure like she did me the first time I said Sierras. :DD

We got close, fearless leader who'd done it a time or two before said an hour or two more. But we'd started late and taken a lot of time to play. We wanted Aspen and friend to have a fun, first experience trying to do a peak, not a forced march. And I needed to start early so I could take a "measured" pace.
But we are "on" for a rematch this summer. Can't wait. I Love Conness. Scatter my ashes there. lynnie
