Hola,
Aside from driving up to Idyllwild, CA - do you know about a webcam, webpage, or smoke signals indicating Tahquitz and/or Suicide Rock are ready for some Spring Trad Climbing?
Muchas Gracias,
theHammer
P.S. A hot chick climbing is below.

Hiked up The North Gully yesterday (crampons and ice axe required). Tahquitz Rock's north side is thinly verglassed bottom to top, ledges have snow. Snow starting at 6,200'. Scrambled and hiked to the top of Tahquitz Peak, about foot and half of snow at 9,200'. If you must climb, Suicide is a bit drier, but the approach is snow. Snowing right now 3:45 PM Friday. Give it at least a couple of weeks.

What do you think it'll be like by Friday, with a week of sun and nice temps?

We had almost a foot of wet, spring snow Friday into Saturday. The temps are high 60s, so it's melting fast, but it might depend where you want to climb. Suicide might be ok, Tahquitz around the Open Book might be ok, the rest of the big rock might need a bit longer.

Just heard from a friend that the conditions are looking great and potentially OK to climb this weekend 04/20 - and if the sun continues it's a go next weekend 04/27.
