You do know, Steve, that on Twitter you are the product and not the consumer.

How does that differ from here? Besides the occasional guidebook buy?
And how do you define consumer? Consumer of beta/ data, or buying something?
It's just a medium to communicate.

Not to mention I have never heard of or seen a tweet from anybody ever that has ever interested me ever.
Well, I've never read a Facebook page so I wouldn't know. But twitter is a good source for news from certain reporters, and their perspective. I only joined for the news stuff.
If you're so self-aggrandizing to want people to know your every move and trip, I suppose Facebook is cool. Why not just do a TR and link it to yer friends that you choose?
Facebook seems to pretentious and downright invasive.

I'll admit to never using my twitter. In fact I didn't even set it up, my moms out there peddling for me. Oh well, at least I don't have to do that jazz myself.

Twitter is useful if you have someone or some thing/event to follow. Has to be interesting to you personally, of course. Nobody is really seriously following me, of course. I'm not even interested in following me!
Took me a while to "get it."
I like the concept of Facebook and used it pretty heavily for a long time. But I deleted my account a few months ago. I rarely miss it. Don't trust Agent Zuckerberg and his minions an iota. :-) Ultimately, Google, Twitter, etc. are all in the same business (part time social media and a full time advertising data aggregators). I just don't trust FB anymore a bit and think they are intentionally malicious in their means. Remaining wary and suspicious of the others.
Hands down the best and most elegant (in its simplicity) social media platform? SuperTopo! Tried and true and works for me. Yes, it's nutty in places (OK, downright twisted), but there's a lot of genuine heart here, beneath the grumpy old man and woman exteriors!
Just don't want to see Chris Mac's file on me. Har har!

Here's a tip, Bluering - When someone follows you and is a spammer or porno chick(as one, if not 2, of your 2 followers are), take a look at their profile. See what they tweet, how often and what the link they are providing as a website in their profile is.
If they are not legit, Block them. If you don't care about your own sh#t, at least don't give them access to all the friends and others you follow/are following.

Yeah, I did that, Happie. Google 'praticosteve' and you'll see why I get all that.
Apparently I'm also an Italian porn-stud...Pratico means "practical" in Italian.

No. The spammers and porno girls will show up as Followers after each and every post you make in the site. Sometimes in greater number than others, but it is a rare Tweet that doesn't get at least one. It is this way for everyone. There must be software that captures new profiles and posts or something. Scammers collect the data and compile it for sale. If you ever see a business post where someone is offering a company "5000 Fans" this is how they get them. You do not want to be one of those 5000 Fans being sold to every scumbag or business person unwilling to do the work to develop a reality-based network
People purchase lists of twitter profiles and mass Follow knowing that some people follow back out of politeness without researching. Or at the least don't block them. Then, your profile gets followed by the other skeezy ones who follow THAT one(in order to have access to the lists.
If you do create Lists(as one might, for Friends, news media, news media of the polar opposite, porno girls, or what have you), make the Lists as Private.
