Anyone cognizant of this one? I and Jerry Coe are not claiming a first ascent of it, but rather a first descent onto it. Consider it fair game for an FA, but just resist the impulse. There is no need to climb it. Just jump from the tree as we did. I confess, there's a bolt and hanger and runner we left, but only to show it has held humans on top at one time. It was Coe, not I. I wanted to swing back over into the tree and leave the rock alone, but Coe coe-erced me into agreeing, albeit very reluctantly. In fact, the Fresno freak with the kinky hair and the nose like a spire concocted the whole idea of walking down the GPT to Union Pt., leaving our spice (plural in Mousese for spouse), Dolores and Renee, at UP, while the guize trucked down to the Column to do our dirt. So there is no other way to prove an ascent, even if we had the ability to free the "vaguely dildic" feature. I wonder if the tree has gotten large enough to have knocked down the column. Can somebody tell me? Coe, are you out there?

Mouse,

I doubt that you remember me, or have any reason to, but I was thinking of you the other day. In 1971, when you were an employee in the Valley mountain shop, you were on the Grack Center while Dan Smith and I were on the Left Side. I'm not sure why I remember this, but the memory is vivid.

Unfortunately, it's been at least 40 years since I've seen Jerry, but I'll ask around the Big Raisin and see if anyone knows his whereabouts. Your tale certainly sounds like something he'd do.

Lame, in that you're trying to claim the FA, and for humiliating the noble rock with tat.

You need to read more carefully. They're claiming, if anything, the FD.

Thank you for remembering me. Thanks for understanding that we can't claim an FA. I hope we haven't started a FAD of some sort, but I rather doubt it.

I remember people's faces better than names. I would very much like to renew my acquaintance with Jerry Coe. He had some unusual stunts all right!

On Little Coe-lumbia's Horn, 5.9ey as heck (it's the Millis rating system designed to confuse the ignorant), Jerry faced out, grasped the horn on both sides and proceeded to bring his feet and legs up over the top of the horn and finished the move on his knees looking out. Only guy I ever saw attempt it, let alone finish it...

As to whether or not anyone ought to cllimb the Agassiz Column, I leave that up to one's own ethical sensitivity. There can be only one FA and it is still virgin, or like a virgin.
